HISTORIC SAINT TROPEZ
Despite being known in recent years for its indulgent lifestyle offerings, Saint Tropez has a religious background. It begins with the legend of Saint Torpes of Pisa, an early Christian martyr, who, after refusing to renounce his Christianity, was killed and set adrift in a boat with a rooster and a dog. The story goes that the boat came ashore and the animals had left his body untouched. The locals named their village in his honor, and Saint Tropez was born.
